We’re a big fan of the National Trust’s work here at Adventure Brits, but there’s no denying that their memberships are a little on the pricey side. While preserving and protecting our historic places, natural landscapes, and cultural heritage is truly priceless, we know that National Trust membership isn’t always within reach for everyone.
But this autumn, the National Trust is giving you the chance to explore some of the most beautiful places in its care, without spending a penny! The caveat? You’ll just have to be quick as there are limited passes available!
For a limited time, you can claim a free single-use autumn pass, valid from 16 September to 18 October 2024, offering access to over 200 National Trust properties across the UK.
This means you can experience the magic of autumn in a stunning local garden, historic house, or vast woodland, while keeping a little extra cash in your pocket.
How to Claim Your Free Pass
The free National Trust autumn pass is a great opportunity to get outdoors with family or friends. It grants free entry for either:
- Two adults (and up to three children), or
- One adult (and up to four children).
Adults are considered anyone 18 and over, and children are those aged 5–17, with children under 5 already receiving free admission.
To claim your pass, simply visit the National Trust website and check the terms and conditions to see if you’re eligible.
If you are, when booking online, just select the free member’s ticket option and use the code AUTUMN24 where prompted for a membership number.
You’ll need to show the digital pass or a printed version that you’ll get via email, when visiting. Bear in mind that the pass is only eligible for a standard ticket, and excludes special events, paid tours, and parking (if applicable).
Can you Use the Free National Trust Autumn Pass Anywhere?
Whilst there are over 500 places in the National Trust’s care, only 200 are participating in this promotion. Additionally, some may require booking in advance, so you cannot just rock up and expect free entry.
You can check which places are exempt from the Autumn Pass here, which are conveniently grouped into regions. Properties managed by English Heritage or the National Trust for Scotland are excluded.
Planning Your Visit
Whether you’re wandering through centuries-old castles, taking in the splendour of a historic home, or walking through golden woodland, this pass lets you enjoy the season’s beauty with ease.
However, before heading out, there are a few things to consider. While autumn is a quieter time of year for some places, certain locations may be busier on weekends, especially in the late morning and early afternoon. If you prefer a peaceful escape, the National Trust recommends visiting during weekdays, if you can.
