If you’re as addicted to recording every run, ride and hike as we are, then we’ve got some exciting news for you!
Strava, the go-to digital community for athletes around the globe, has just launched a game-changing new feature to keep adventuring morale high and on a budget: the Family Plan.
Announced at their annual event, Camp Strava, this new shared subscription is here to bring you and your crew closer together, both online and out on the trails.
What’s the Family Plan All About?

Strava’s Family Plan is a shared annual subscription that lets you and up to three other people (friends, family, or your favourite training buddies) enjoy all the premium features Strava has to offer.
It costs £99 per year, and can save you up to 50% compared to individual subscriptions when split among four people.
The catch? You all need to live in the same country and not be current subscribers. But for many people, this will still be totally worth it.
What’s So Good About the Family Plan?

Strava’s research shows that over half of its athletes feel motivated by friends and family who work out. In fact, 77% of users feel more connected when they see their loved ones’ activities.
According to Strava’s chief business officer, “The magic of Strava lies in the motivation that’s found in our global community. Our belief is that people keep people active, and the new Family Plan makes it even easier to make a fitness commitment together. It’s about more than just setting shared goals; it’s about embracing shared passions and celebrating collective progress.”
The Family Plan is therefore designed to boost that motivation and connection, making your fitness journey a shared adventure.
Here’s what you get with the Family Plan:
- Goals: Set weekly goals and chase progress together. Keep each other accountable and make those fitness milestones even more fun.
- Workout Insights: Get easy-to-understand analyses of your activities to help you train smarter and track your progress.
- Group Challenges: Unlimited access to Group Challenges to set and smash shared goals with your crew.
- Routes: Create, discover, and share routes. Plan epic trips and group adventures with ease.
Strava’s Upcoming Updates
The Family Plan is one of many updates that Strava has been rolling out this year. In July 2024 they released a long-awaited dark mode for early morning or late night athletes.
Soon to come is an AI-powered irregular activity flag to prevent cheating on leaderboards, improved activity summaries and night heat maps.
